This is Cassie, a cat owned by Rebecca, who also has a website titled 'Marsh Cat Art'. She is also the person who submitted the reference for yesterday's "Cat in the Hat".  Like me, Rebecca is definitely a cat person as well as an artist.

... or maybe I should have titled it "Pamela's" because it depicts my sister, Pam, with her namesake grandchild, Pamela, playing in the surf on Tybee Island, Georgia. Pam inherited the gorgeous shock of prematurely white hair from our mother.  Me, I just got the old standard salt & pepper. This painting is a little thank you gift to Pam for all the encouragement and support she gives me.  Thanks, Sis!

This one took a little longer to complete than I thought it would (isn't that always the case?)  I really enjoyed playing with this one... maybe that's why it took longer.  I could almost put myself in the place of Tootsie as she sits in bright sunlight yet she's reflected back to herself because it's too darn cold to go outside!  I yearn for spring to come.  Yesterday two of my grandchildren helped me plant broccoli and collard plants and today I picked some forsythia branches to force them to bloom inside.  My mood is so weather-affected that I know my family is wishing for warmer weather, too!

I know there are a lot of books and information out on the web these days that you can throw your money at and, let's face it, money is not an easy commodity these days! I gritted my teeth and skeptically ordered this one at the pre-published price, hoping to get some insight into the gallery side of the art world because, like many of you, I desperately need to spend more time creating.
Boy, am I glad that I did!

Seems I've been doing a lot of serious painting of late, so I really needed to pull back and do a "funsy". This is one of my favorite poses of our kitty, Baby Face. She loves to 'hook on' over my husband's shoulder and nap. It's a good thing he's wearing his old faded flannel overshirt... those side claws are sharp!

Hampton Gallery

Saturday evening I had the chance to attend 'The Blue Green Earth Exhibition' at the Hampton Fine Art Gallery in Greensboro, GA which is co-owned by Cameron Hampton. Cameron is an multi-faceted artist that I first met at Art on the Avenue, where we both have work hanging. She also received the Best of Show award for “Intersection” at the recent Georgia in Bloom Show in Madison, GA.
