Here's another commission that I can show before Christmas... a precious Brussels Griffon, my first painting of this breed of dog.  What soulful eyes he has!

Our cat, Morris, has perfected the "drop dead!"  look.  I had intended on painting the background of this little 'funsie' green to match his eyes, but that look just begged to say, "So I like pink...wanna make something of it?!"

I did manage to finish this one tonight.  After being at the easel all afternoon on the owl painting, I settled into my recliner with a lapboard after supper and painted Rosie, our rabbit, taking a bath during a visit in the house.  Rosie thinks she is one of our cats... coming and going in the yard and coming when called only when she wants to... much like a cat.  Her favorite place to stretch out is the red sofa, but that's another painting.

I've probably painted Muffin more than any other of my cats. Is a cat photogenic? I like the opportunity to use that black & white contrast with different color schemes. She doesn't seem to mind.

Sisters

This basketful of cat is Muffin and her sister, Patches, in their teenage years. What is fascinating (besides both of them being able to cram into the same Easter basket) is that their black and white patterns meld together to form one 'cat mass' instead of two kittens. You've just got to love those expressions!

I started this painting playing with the fuzzed pattern on the rug and was having such fun with it that I just kept right on going into the cat with the same technique.

Morris

Morris is one BIG cat! He loves to get in my chair and then give me that "Drop dead!" look when I go to sit down. Do you know a cat like this that will NOT move?! He would never bite or scratch... it's just that he won't help me move him. He simply turns into a huge mound of jello, making it impossible to even scrape him out of the chair with one hand. No...I have to put down whatever I have in my hands and use both hands and quite a bit of muscle to lift him out. Then I put Morris in my husband's chair. I should've named him "Jabba the Hut"!

Upon Reflection

These two precious kittens are trying to figure out how that other cat got inside my kitchen table! The white manx kitten is Bob and the orange tabby is Cheddar, although sunshine and shadow have got to be the main subjects in this painting. The table itself is always a conversation piece for new people coming to visit. It's been in the family for 50 years and I've painted it numerous times, as did my mother before me. It currently matches the blue/purple/red phase I'm in.
